Edited by jacque on March 25, 2026, 12:57 am ... And many thanks for the masters in skill for setting our standard of work to instill.
I instantly thought of this song after reading Poppet's comment. Seemed like good waiting music while on hold.
I grew up listening to this group and they are still on my playlist and my kids and grandkids know many of their songs. They never had a specific 'sound' like many bands do. Every album showcased many styles and genres that influenced them in their writing.
This is the Canadian Rock Band "The Guess Who"
The Album is So Long Bannatyne. Song name Life in the Bloodstream. Written by Burton Cummings.
Their first album after cofounder Randy Bachman left and found fame as Brave Belt and BTO. (Takin' Care of Business)
Many of you would know them by other songs like
These Eyes
Laughing
No Time
Undun
No Sugar Tonight
Share The Land
American Woman
Burton Cummings had a notable solo career as well
Stand Tall
I'm Scared
were his first solo hits.
A side note Burton does great impersonations of
Gene Pitney
Roy Orbison
Chubby Checker
Gordon Lightfoot
Sometimes he does them in his shows.
I have tickets to see Bachman and Cummings perform in June.
I could probably fill you in on many other details and stories of them.
Or my own - Like My mom thought I got lost at one of their concerts when I was 3-4 yrs old. I just went to get concessions with an uncle but my mom got the band to stop and make an announcement about a lost long haired little boy wearing a jean jacket full of patches. I was famous that day. LOL!
A Jack of all trades is master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.![]()
