It was an attempt to get SOMETHING more than just an A after 2 flops.
My first thought had been to use CLAMP but I knew P was wrong so changed it up to get 4 different possible consonants. Imagine my surprise??
CLACK would have NEVER been on my radar if I hadn't tried CLANK and there was NO other option left.
It may have taken you a bit longer, but those were some very good word plays!
