Over the last five years, U.S. egg prices have experienced extreme volatility. Driven by devastating avian flu outbreaks, the national average cost of a dozen Grade A large eggs surged from about $1.50 in 2021 to an all-time peak of $6.23 in March 2025. Thanks to flock recovery and increased imports, prices have since fallen, averaging around $2.14 a dozen.
Never more expensive than they were during Trump's term!
