Low tide so the sharks seen off the coast there yesterday will be far out while we frolic on the sand bar. There is a sweet, salty pool of warmed ocean water left behind when tide goes out.

That's the only way I can enjoy the frigid ocean in New England. Either Pine Point beach described above, a sand bar off of PoRtsmouth, NH, or on The Cape inside the hook where it is warmed ocean water.

Never knew what I was missing until living in Florida's Gulf Coast where water is always warm. Then I began seeking out sand bars at low tide.
