only connection to people most of the time. There are a helluva lot of lonely people out there who have few friends or family, so become isolated with nowhere to go and no one to talk to.

JB was one of them. So was Old CM. GOG too. Perhaps others on these boards that we interact with but really don't know.

It's why Senior Centers are so prolific now and why groups of people gather to do their mall walks together.

It is very sad when people become isolated even though they may be surrounded by dozens of people in large apartment complexes or inner city neighborhoods. However, they don't know anyone and no one seems receptive to even chat briefly with a stranger to even try to make friends. That happens a lot to older, retired folks, especially if they downsize and move somewhere new where they are all alone.
