Dan Reeves signed Gerald Perry as tackle (1988 or 89). He amassed sexual assault accusations and charges, including from a teammate's wife. Reeves overlooked Perry's indiscretions due to his potential as a defensive athlete.

Reeves did not correctly anticipate the morale cost Perry drained from the Broncos.

During his time, Denver lost Superbowls to Washington Redskins and San Francisco Fortyniners in blow outs, largely due to Perry's half hearted, lackluster performance as tackle in those games, which the other teams observed and exploited for bad second half blowouts. Perry didn't care, and he didn't last.
