Donald Trump Jr.’s Ohio Rally Takes Super Awkward Turn With 1 Very Basic Mistake

The head-scratcher from Donald Trump’s eldest son went viral online.

Donald Trump Jr. drew mockery on Monday after making a weird gaffe about Ohio while campaigning for Republican candidates in the state on the eve of the 2026 midterm elections.

“They want to, what is it, ‘save democracy by destroying democracy?’” Donald Trump’s eldest son said of Democrats during an event in Swanton.

“They want to pack the Supreme Court,” he warned.

Then came the head-scratcher, he added: “They want to make Ohio a state.”

Ohio has been a state since 1803.

Trump Jr. did not acknowledge the apparent slip and continued speaking, this time referring to efforts to make Washington, D.C., a state and fearmongering that Democrats want to “have a permanent one-party rule.”

The flub quickly went viral online, with critics having plenty to say about Trump Jr.’s apparent confusion.
