His father prized only a "killer instinct" in men and actively cultivated it in djt. His two other sons were what he considered soft, so he brow-beat them and pushed donald to humiliate and dominate them. He caused his eldest namesake son to drown himself in alcohol, dying young because he rejected his father's demands and pursued a career in aviation as a civilian pilot. He rose through the ranks to become highly successful, but always felt like a failure anyway. His youngest son, Robert, was bullied and beaten up by djt, always subordinate to him.
Demented Dad constantly pushed djt to cultivate and implement a "killer" instinct that djt actually didn't possess. So he learned to be brash and unethical in his business practices, using lawyers and threats to intimidate and dominate others who had less "power" than him. He never dared do that to those he feared, like he fears Putin now. He desperately wants to be like Putin... fearless, brutal, domineering, successful, and in command over everyone else. IOW, a dictator or king in command of an army of soldiers who would do his dirty work since he is too chicken to fight himself. Deep down, he knows that he is weak and he is desperate to be perceived as strong and powerful.
I've read so many books about him by people close to him as well as accounts from his own family members. No one has anything good to say about him. Most talk about his extreme insecurity and need to dominate as well as his fury when anyone doubts or disregards him.
He's spent a lifetime trying to prove himself as worthy and belonging amongst the elite whom he admires, beginning with the NYC elite who constantly rejected him as a vulgarian wannabe with extremely bad taste.
His middle class upbringing left him desperate for acceptance into the upper crust but his vulgar taste and persona always reveals his true nature and status.

Poor djt, the bully son of a second class NYC real estate builder is forever trying to prove his strength and worthiness, always failing, always desperate.
Oh and he could never really measure up to Dad's expectations so when his father devolved from
Alzheimer's, djt got even with Frederick Sr. by humiliating and dominating him when he was weakened and no longer able to defend himself or fight back. djt took command of his father's fortune and set himself up with a huge majority of it so that his surviving siblings got only a tiny portion of their rightful inheritance. He also took over his mother's share and set about controlling her too.
Vengeance and a need to dominate others has always ruled his life. Now he is totally losing his marbles, just as his father ultimately did.
