Colorado, in spite of already having ALL of the necessary military infrastructure to headquarter Space Force, between NORAD (Cheyenne Mountain Air Station) Peterson Air Force Base, Shriever Air Force Base and the US Air Force Academy, lost to Alabama courtesy of the felon.
It was delighted to yank the project from blue democrat Colorado and give it to red Alabama and that brave son, military support senator Tommy Tuberville. because they're all for the felon.
Alabama has ZERO infrastrucure for this. The NASA command located in Huntsville is entirely BUREAUCRATIC!
Cost to build this will be billions and billions, all unnecessary. But there's an old problem.
The Alabama location is of course vulnerable to tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding. They also have fire ants. By the hundreds of billions.
Fire ants have a fetish addiction for chewing into electrical wiring, and especially electrical systems and sensitive electronic components. Phorid fly controls were effective against the ants to a degree. But parts of the US territory infested with fire ants will not support phorid flies, and that includes Alabama.
Colorado lost the Large Super Collider to Texas for similar political decision making. Entomologists warned the government the region was especially infested with fire ants, but the politicians found scientific liars who said the ants would pose no threat.
When construction began on the SSC, fire ants compromised every electrical wiring, and compoment system installed, short circuiting it so the wiring and equipoment had to be replaced. The replacements were comporomised because there is no known way to stop these ants. Cost of the SSC doubled and was on its way to doubling again when Clinton and Congess shut it down for cost overruns.
The fire ants caused the cost overruns.
