There are so many venues in which one can find entertainment these days. Entertainment without tons of commercials. I watch very little network TV these days. Almost none. I'd rather pay some cash than waste time watching commercial after commercial. However, Snopes could not corroborate the reporting because it relied on information provided by anonymous sources. Snopes reached out to a CBS representative for "The Late Show" for comment on the losses and did not receive a response. -greenman

They created a Super PAC to mock the system after the Colbert Report ended. He was even sued over his own likeness. There is/was NO sign of advertisers pulling out. Plus, a large night talk show doesn't have tge kind of production costs of any kind of scripted TV show with multiple sets, actors, script writers, overhead, etc. Costs were stable. Guests weren't paid. No extra sets to build. So it doesn't ring true whatsoever! AND... The show continues for another YEAR after its cancelation! Further cementing the silliness of costs being the reason.
