I suspect there a few diehards in the DIY department. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Just me venting.
The brand of power tools in which you are loyal may not be so special. I have owned many different brands. each incorporates a proprietary piece but most still contain parts that come from a few manufacturers. (major appliances too)
I believe in right to repair. I often reject extended warranties because I can often source a part myself. And most often do the repair too.
But that is just a lead in to my most recent adventure. I have had some recent renovations made to update and repair household accommodations for my disabled son. Some of this is Grant money but has to be dispersed through approved channels. the contractors have to be approved through county/state. I have experience in every aspect of the trades but I cannot be hired in any capacity for work. And Yet I have had to 'correct' mistakes to function in my home. I cannot wait for days to correct plumbing issues with only one bathroom.
The waste and fraud involved in 'Medicare' related things is not fakers. Its the the 6-10 layers of bureaucracy/oversight to get it done.
the approved contractors for handicap accommodations don't have an f'n clue about wheelchairs/walkers or accessibility in general.
It's easy money that can be low priority in material and work.
I had to figure out how to pay for a hotel for a week so my son and wife could use a toilet. They offered a port-o-potty on the boulevard for us and a wheelchair bound adult. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
Thank goodness the hotel and gas station weren't far for me to use a toilet while I stayed with the pets.
It was 2 weeks without a shower in home. Ugh!!
thanks for listening.
live long and prosper as best you can Jacque
Well that sucks! Didn't you have a similar problem a bit ago too? if that is how Medicare works in
covering necessary accommodations for disabilities, then that has to be changed! My family has always been DIY believers and do exactly that whenever possible.
Sometimes, it has been more practical to hire out. Too often, the so-called expert was anything but!
I'm sorry to read that you've once again had this same issue and had to pay for a hotel for the comfort of loved ones while shoddy work or long wait times caused it, when you were capable of doing it yourself faster and better.
