I’m probably not going to be able to play the piano very well without that extra tendon in my thumb, am I? I asked the doc if I would lose strength in my forefinger if they did that surgery, and he said no… but I’m not so sure.
Not sure. Really too soon to know.

You may not be able to play octaves. Then again with stretching maybe you can. Hanon piano studies may help.
