So... someone who lives far away has something we (the good guys) want, and 'they' (the bad guys) treat their people and their neighbors badly anyway... so we should just go in there and bomb the crap out of their leaders and weapons and then tell 'the people' to take over their government and choose better leaders. But wait... that didn't happen. The son of the bad guy leader is still alive and in charge now along with his army, and he is mad now that we killed his dad and family and bombed the crap out of his country and their ability to fight back. But apparently we (the good guys) didn't totally take out their defenses because now they are causing problems and standing in the way of us taking or getting what we want.
So now what do we do with this 'bad guy' who is still there and standing in our way? Hey! I know... let's play "Let's Make a Deal!" You give me what I want, or else we will bomb your power plants and make your people suffer greatly... yes, the people that we were just trying to save from YOU treating them badly!
Oh yes, they are really going to want to 'deal' with us now, and the talks are going great!
