So take it with the grain of salt it requires. But: There are now two former NBA players to announce such a decision, after Enes Kanter Freedom made his announcement earlier on Friday. "I'm transgender. I'm a woman. I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purpose of basketball, professional basketball, so I'll be declaring for the WNBA draft in 2027 as well," White said. "I think I’d be unstoppable. But I’m a team-first guy. I’m a pass-first kind of player. I do the little things. I led my team in all five major stat categories at Iowa State University, so I do a little bit of everything. I’ll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do... "I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do..." So, he does NOT identify as a "girl", HE identifies as a "guy" and said so himself. Don't allow him in. I wonder if he's a "former" NBA player because HE couldn't cut it professionally playing with the men? I totally get that some people are truly transgender, but they are Trans ALL the time, not only when playing a particular sport for money. That sickens me because I am supportive of true transgenders having the right to be who they are. However, when they get all combative and demanding that they be allowed to stomp on cisgender people's rights, that's the line in the sand for me. The problem seems to be predominantly found with trans-women who apparently still have too much testosterone-fueled aggression and "male privilege" that our society tends to still promote to fit in anywhere. Not ALL, of course, but enough to have caused all kinds of problems for everyone else in their group who just wants to be who they are without fanfare.

YES, there are definitely real ones. Scott is a man in every possible way that someone once a woman can be. He's known he was a boy/man since he was about 9. He lived the life of a boy throughout the remainder of childhood/teen years growing up (beginning simple hormone treatment at 13 and had surgery at 22). He is happily married to a lovely woman and you would definitely NEVER KNOW or even guess that Scott was born female. NEVER. He doesn't try to draw attention to himself. He simply wants to live his life. The other one I know personally is the 14 year old child of my niece. (S)he still uses his/her legal birth name, Michael, because the school requires it and the courts won't change it due to transgenderism while still a minor. However, she goes by Michelle to her friends and family. This began at 7-8 years old and by age 11 her parents accepted that it is real for her and allowed hormone treatments to begin at 12. Their agreement is that surgery won't happen until after age 21 just to be certain that she really is a girl through and through because surgery is permanent. We'llsee how that goes when the time comes, but for now, it is what it is. So, I'm quite certain that true transgenders DO exist in spite of the fact that some are just opportunistic and others are just mistaken for a variety of reasons.

ADMIN ...Enes Kantner Freedom is neither. He's Turkish-American (naturalized) and has pretty solid progressive credentials: lots of high-profile human rights activism, he's organized and funded humanitarian relief (mainly food) in Gaza, got himself in trouble in his NBA days writing "Free Tibet," "Free Uyghur," on his shoes...followed by "Made with Slave Labor" after he got penalized for the previous slogans. Despite official denials by NBA leadership, his relatively early departure from the league is broadly considered to be a blackballing resulting from his refusal to stop his advocacy. He's been firmly opposed to fascistic Turkish dictator Recep Erdogan for years (vocally enough that he actually has an active arrest warrant there for "terrorism" sand his family has been harassed.). His purpose with this stunt (declaring himself eligible for next season's WNBA draft) seems to be calling attention to the matter of transgender women competing in what were created to be female-only sports leagues and events. Some WNBA coaches, administrators, and players have been making some pretty, er..."interesting" statements on this, including one player who stated she'd be okay with transgender teammates (quickly amended after a hilariously obvious "oh wait" moment to "and opponents"). He's calling them out on their actual commitment to that. This is occurring within the larger picture of several female athletes making statements to the effect of supporting keeping female athletics entirely female. WNBA player Sophie Cunningham was the first prominent voice, but many tennis players (including world #1 Arnya Sabalenka) chimed in after the WTA announced one-time sex testing. The new Olympic Committee chairwoman apparently just issued a similar statement today and the Olympics are set to institute (again) sex testing measures. It's a messy issue, and preserving "women's sports" as the female-only branch of sports it was created to be while avoiding compromising anyone's (actual) rights is a complex matter. Or at least has been made into one...

However, I still oppose having former NBA male players switching genders to play against cisgender women. If the problem is big enough, create their own league.

Perhaps (obviously actually) I've misjudged one " ADMIN I hesitate to speak for Royce White, but that's partly because I'm only familiar with the guy because he's a Republican running for office. I think this is in part intended to benefit his campaign, but he may very well feel strongly about protecting women's sports. I have to admit to needing to deal with some automatic (and potentially unfair) snap judgements about right wingers! Kanter is a real-deal human rights activist, so this is kinda on-brand for him. I don't think either have any intention of actually playing. Which would be absurd: either would absolutely destroy any opposition. Basketball is a sport in which the difference in athleticism between males and females is extreme.

I knew Kantner was anti-dictatorship in Turkey, and is harshly criticized by their regime. I had only assumed both were taking the Right's side, my error. I certainly support women's sports for women, as you know. The hassles Cunningham are putting up with at the hands of the PC I completely oppose, as I do having Transgenderism forced on the public generally. Supporting normal human rights is, as you point out, a very different thing. SAY ‘NO’ TO WAR! RESIST!

Afterward she hysterically blamed 'white privilege' for the foul deservedly called on HER. WNBA needs to get rid of this crap. It's coming from Right AND Left, and turning into a race and gender war.. SAY ‘NO’ TO WAR! RESIST!

Afterward, we watched the Jackie Robinson movie. He had played on the KC Monarchs team before signing on with the Brooklyn Dodgers as the first black player in the major leagues. Terrible how he was treated back in those days of Jim Crow and crap, but he persevered. Great movie. So now I guess the only thing left that is still 'socially acceptable' to denigrate and discriminate against is women and LGBTQs, especially if it is politically expedient to help advance the sorry careers of shameless politicians. Sad, sickening and disgusting really.
