I'm pretty sure that is the idea. They somehow have to get those wimmen back in their place.

It might be tempting or appealing to many poor families or rural communities who don't have access to good jobs anyway.

AI is going to reduce the number of jobs available anyway, and people could also work from home, so it may even be appealing to higher income families. But for people who depend on two incomes, of course it won't work.

Probably isn't even a serious proposition... it's more of a dog whistle to those who want to put women back in their place, I suspect. And of course they won't say anything about helping single parents with child care costs. Who knows... maybe they are trying to prepare the country for the coming era of depression and lack of jobs?
