Sure, because you have a 'convention' during a midterm just to celebrate yourself! lol

While traditional party conventions are held during a presidential election year to nominate candidates, this year’s Republican convention, set to begin Wednesday in Dallas, is being held ahead of November’s midterm elections.

The convention will be centered on Trump and his agenda. Some Republicans are reportedly skipping out for a variety of reasons, including the required $25,000 contribution to attend.
