Iran has already proven nothing will work to stop them beside the 72 virgins they believe they've been promised. You can bet they wouldn't wait long after first splitting the atom to make their reservations to those 6 dozen. I doubt we'd have time to plan and execute our own preemptory first strike and I sure wouldn't bet all of America's lives we could beat them to the punch.

There is no reason to retry past failed attempts yet again.
