...Texas had a weekly drawing where you could send in your losing scratchoff tickets and enter a drawing held weekly. The weekly winners each got a $1 Million prize.

So this lady won a million. They automatically withheld 20 percent for federal taxes. She blew the remaing $800 thousand on a farm, etc. At the end of the year she had nothing left. Then she had to do her income taxes and she owed something over $150 thousand additional dollars. She screamed, she cried and she complained to everybody who would listen or anyone who read her diatribe in the local paper.

End story, she had to sell the farm to pay the taxes. She still wound up with a big payday but she will carry that anger to her deathbed. It was all somebody else's fault.
