Republicans freed the Democrats' slaves in Texas on June 19th. But in Florida Republicans freed the Democrats' slaves May 20th. It's called Emancipation Day around here.
Every May 20th Civil War re-enactors playing the part of Major General Edward McCook and other Republican union soldiers act out the speech General McCook gave from the steps of the Knott House in Tallahassee on 20 May 1865. This was the first ever Official reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in Florida.
Happy little Pic'ninnies.

Biden gave 'em another day that they don't have to work, and get paid for not doing it.
I still find it interesting that the majority of the wealthy white plantation owners managed to say things that could convince so many of the struggling, mostly un- educated southern farmers, living and working in the mostly agricultural southern states that were united together to make an attack on the growing industrial based power of the northern United States of America to fight and die in order to maintain the lifestyle of the rich and wealthy.
Sad that the issue of slavery was secondary to the driving economic factors which could not be resolved by legislation and somebody thought it would be a good idea to attack a fort… and then there was April 15, 1865 when a coward shot a greatly heroic leader in the back of his head, beginning a trend of being the American method of assassination and the income tax filing due date n the beginning of the era of American intervention in Central and South America back before the Chinese arrived.
