Yes and the food was superb. I did take a picture of the corn if you want to see it- it is a boring picture - but 'proof of corn'...har, so a little corny humor this morning.

So what my generation used to call 'window wells' have a different spin in new homes - as there is a ladder to climb out for egress - tall windows in the basement, surrounded by concrete on the exterior...you get the idea I hope because I am out of descriptive words. Anyway - in my son's 'window wells' - turtles and toads always seem to fall in and get trapped - and MY DAUGHTER will climb down (she is the outdoor adventure not afraid of shit girl) and rescue. Cutest baby turtle yesterday - about the size of a 50 cent piece and, yes, I have a picture of it when she put it into the neighborhood pond that I will share if you want to see it - have a picture of it in her hand too but I am not sharing that picture until I can figure out how to crop it

. There were a couple of toads too but I did not get pictures of those.

we will match you for heat! I got NO SPRING Johnny...once again it went from COLD to rain to storms to sizzling heat. I think I need a different state - I am getting too old for this chit.

Sounds like a good time. Probably a red eared slider turtle. The kind you use to could buy at dime stores. There are turtle farms here that ship them by the thousands to Japan, some kind of good luck thing. Funny seeing the box because it had holes in it and little turtle heads poking out of each hole.

I'm not sure what kind of turtle it is - other than can rule out snapping tutle.

and here is the boring pic of the corn...I brushed it with butter and seasoned with Tony Chachere's before grilling...then brushed with with butter again after grilling. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!

We grilled a dozen ears, leaving four for leftovers. I remembered to snap a pic before we packed up.

That's it, nice picture. It's a red ear slider. Turtles out of my oxidation pond are digging holes and laying eggs everywhere. I'll sometimes find the little ones crawling around when I mow. As a kid I'd catch them at a borrow pit (pond) and at one time I had 300 in a cage.

The development my son built his home in was once a ranch/farm (actually directly behind him a pasture of horses remain) there is one pond that was always on that land...others were dug as the developer built for water run off as the water table around this part of the state is very high - always subject to flooding. I suspect that is the draw for all the turtles - and probably was their natural habitat before the developer got is hands on the land.

My daughter had a much larger turtle in an aquarium in her classroom (fun to watch the turtle swim) but after a time, my daughter took it to the nature preserve and released it. She also had a ball python in her classroom - also in an aquarium and the kids absolutely loved it. One of the worst arguments my daughter and I ever had was when she brought that forken snake to my house during COVID lockdown...she stayed with us for a couple of weeks. I am not afraid of snakes but I absolutely did NOT want that snake in my house. Jaysus...and it was a forken torutre/horror scene at feeding time which I left the room for. GAWD.

...of course, Winter arrived on Monday, June 16 at 5:06 PM. She weighed 6 pounds even and she is the most beautiful granddaughter ever.
