Qatar and President Trump's Abraham Accords: A shoo in? A cinch?

Not quite a cinch yet—but the odds are clearly shifting.
Qatar has not officially joined the Abraham Accords but recent events—including Iran’s missile attack on Al-Udeid Air Base—have intensified regional security concerns and has nudged Qatar ever closer to normalization with Israel.
According to U.S. lawmakers visiting the Arabian Gulf, there’s growing interest in expanding the Accords once the current conflict subsides. They specifically mentioned hopes that Qatar and Kuwait might join, though no formal steps have been announced.
Historically, Qatar has maintained a more cautious stance, balancing ties with the West while hosting Hamas leaders and supporting Palestinian causes.
Yet Iran’s aggression is likely recalibrating Doha’s strategic calculus—especially if it feels directly threatened.
While it’s not quite a done deal yet, the trajectory is definitely shifting, and Qatar’s next moves will be closely watched.
