Bud Light is reportedly considering a $10 million endorsement deal with actress Sydney Sweeney as a strategic move to recover from the significant brand damage caused by its 2023 partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which led to a $1.4 billion sales loss and a 15.3% revenue drop. Sweeney's recent involvement in a controversial American Eagle jeans campaign, which sparked debate over its "great genes" pun but also boosted the retailer's stock by 23%, has positioned her as a compelling candidate for this role, with industry experts noting her "reach, resilience, and relevance". While the deal has not been confirmed, her potential endorsement is seen as a calculated gamble to reposition Bud Light with conservative and mainstream audiences, though it carries the risk of further polarizing consumers.
Bud Light's 2023 campaign with Dylan Mulvaney, featuring Mulvaney dressed as Holly Golightly, triggered a nationwide boycott and significant financial losses. Sweeney's American Eagle campaign, titled "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans," generated substantial commercial impact, with a 23% surge in the retailer's stock and increased brand awareness, despite controversy over the pun's implications. Marketing experts like Christopher Chatham from Manatt believe Sweeney's proven commercial success makes her a "compelling candidate" for Bud Light, as her appeal could help the brand regain relevance and market share. The proposed $10 million deal, if finalized, would represent a major endorsement for Sweeney and a significant investment by Anheuser-Busch to rebuild its image, though both parties remain silent on the speculation. Critics warn that aligning with Sweeney, amid her own controversy, could alienate progressive consumers, highlighting the inherent risk in using a polarizing figure for brand recovery.
I had never even heard of her until pictures of her, and rumors of her hooking up with Tom Brady at the Bezos spectacle (wedding), started showing up online. Bud's better off sticking with the Clydesdales. They have proven their value.
He is 21 years older than her and I'd imagine to maturity level is off the scale. Makes me respect him even less. As a Bills fan too, that's hard to do.

I was curious and did a quick check. Leonardo DiCaprio is the same way. He is getting older (50 now) but his girlfriends remain the same age. His average. age of girlfriends is 25 and most of them have been models. His current one is 27. Don't know exactly why, but Brady has always seemed kind of creepy to me. It's just this deep inner feeling I have and I trust my instincts.
