It is 81 in my house right now My AC died overnight. I have commitments this afternoon, so If I can't get anyone out here in the morning it's gonna be a long hot day and night. I probably need a new unit as it's been well over a decade since I replaced it. The good news is the fridge is working and I have cold beer.

If you believed in climate change and supported Al Gore and Kamala Harris, your AC would be fine

It's 78 outside. Humidity @ 81%. 73 inside. Humidity@ 48%. Birds/squirrels fed. Flag inside because we just had a shower drop .04 rain. Won't be doing anything outside and will probably go stir crazy.

If feasible, go ahead and replace it. If it's over a decade age wise, you're probably just going to be "throwing money out the window" from this point on. Logically, it's best to invest those funds in something dependable that'll actually work for you for another decade+...then you can rest easy.

I had to do the same during a horrible winter freeze several years ago. Since I was buying a brand new system, the guys showed up bright and early the next morning and had it installed in just a few hours. In the meantime, they turned on the emergency heat strips (I think that's what they called them) from the unit in the attic so I would be warm.
