But not on which side has 5?

There's also the question of what happens to the citizenships of those already born if they choose to limit the 14th.

Intended to settle the citizenship of former slaves, Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.”

The last slave ships came to the US in 1801.

I was thinking about the same issue this morning. For those already born - there are categories that COULD be explored - not just a blanket solution - in my opinion.

I am a bit surprised that USSC took this under consideration. Very hot potato!
