I know hunger better than you. The only reason I went to school was for the lunch. I ate what I could, when I could. If it weren't for school I'd have starved to death.

Left home every morn with a brown bag holding a potted meat sammy and a tiny bag of Fritos...

...usually had gravy and biscuits for dinner. We rarely had breakfast or snacks. On Saturday we had the special weekly treat of bologna sandwiches and potato chips.

There were two old maids lived 2 houses down. They saved scraps from their daily meals and would call for me to come get it for a little dog I had. I'd go get it and stop under the street light and pick through it for meat. My brother saw me one night and from then on I'd have to share it with him.
