You can wash it off with your garden hose . The aluminum fins get dirt caught up in them .

When the fins get clogged in dirt it can’t cool itself off . It works in the same principle as a radiator on your automobile. I wash mine out at lest once a year. Sometimes wasp ants ect build nest in them also.
