...and chitterlings were a treat. Any meat was a treat. My granddad would go to town every couple of weeks and come back with a big chunk of bologna that he dutifully split among his 10 kids. They lived most days on biscuits, cornbread, gravy and beans.

Now we have 20 somethings who whine incessantly because they cannot afford to eat out every night.

I've eaten them fried, not bad at all. Biscuits and gravy is still a big southern thing. I prefer not to eat out but do my own cooking.

I heard some 20 something whining about not affording to eat out...

...and she meant at places like Olive Garden, Chili's and such rather than a McDonald's. She felt so wronged because she could not afford everything she wanted.

I sat and wondered how she thought those of us her parents' age and older lived when we were starting out. We did not eat out much at all and most times it was Burger King or such. We ate a lot of sandwiches because they were cheap. I guess she thinks we just had all sorts of money but she never saw the years before we had good jobs in senior roles.
