That's muchly appreciated Otis, but I'm enjoying tranquility off the board these days. Just wanted to give a shout out to SC who has the actual privilege of living on the Emerald Coast - my own little slice of vacationing paradise. I feel that you've probably been there yourself but, If not, it would make for a nice road trip.

...I have not bitten the bullet on one. We have had 4 extended outages in 30 years. I have a gasoline portable that will run my refrigerators or my heat. It will also run a small window AC that I have that will cool one room.

Oh, more than $6000. More like $10000 and up... plus a lot of scheduled maintenance...

...Some folks here have had theirs for 4 years and the longest outage we have had is less than 2 hours.

A local realtor told me that people who are buying in rural areas are making them a condition of sale plus a lot of homes in town have them.
