payments wherever possible through various complex and vague means - that was certainly his behaviour later. I’d read that debts racked up for months, but others (Roger Day for one) are claiming Ronan was not involved and it’s all down to Philip Solomon.
Sadness, but a recognition that Caroline was a shadow of its former self.
By 1968 there were long gaps between tenders and the dj's were beginning to complain about the conditions on board. The station was being used as a vehicle by Philip Solomon to plug records without paying Wijsmuller, who were enabling them to be on the air and probably even owned the ships. A few years later Major Minor itself went bust leaving unpaid bills.
On the South ship I can remember Henry Morgan appearing as chief dj and taking over the 9-12am show, playing lots of Radio 390-type music. Also the USA chart show where Love Is Blue seemed to be number one every week!
It was great that they stayed on post-MOA, but a pity they didn't have a sound financial model to sustain them.
The date when the two radio Caroline ships were towed to Amsterdam, & were silenced for 4 long years. Your memories & feelings from that time?
Mine were of outrage that something many of my age group loved, had been removed - we blamed the Labour Government, for making Caroline's existence very difficult. It led me into Building & operating a MW TX or two, creating Anglia Radio, Radio Essex & a few others. A day or so in court & meeting other like minded rebels
Here are some of Peter Chicago's memories:

Songs I remember from then: Green Tambourine, Pictures of Matchstick men, Sitting in the dock of the bay (Most appropriate), Hold your head up.
