Specifically if you seek a site called Free Radio Caroline or Radio Free Caroline, you will find an utterance from Gates under the heading How Radio Caroline Was Stolen which sets out his views that will not be changed by any facts that are put to him.
The site is probably an offshoot of the France Radio Club who were/are fixated that Caroline must be ' a free voice from International waters ' etc etc. They very much wanted me/us to go back to sea and switch on to ' prove our right to exist ' or some such. They were very unhappy on finding that we were not able and maybe not much willing to do this.
The question is, and I leave it open, as to whether Caroline is some sort of political statement or a radio station that entertains people with music. For instance does a Rolling Stones Record played with a licence sound better or worse than the same record played without a licence ? Must it come from a ship ? Where can that ship be placed ?

Generally, Social Media gives outcasts who would be shunned in normal interactions some sort of platform to present a totally concocted status.

Gary Stevens is not Garry Stevens and neither is he a Pirate Radio Legend, but if he is happy to imagine that he is, no great harm is done. As I understand he is of the view that there was no good radio after March 1968. He is entitled to that opinion but I doubt that it is widely shared. I do not know if thus his musical appreciation does not extend beyond The Honeycombs, Freddie And The Dreamers, Leapy Lee and The Hedgehoppers Anonymous. If so he is denying himself a lot of good music. I tried to listen to his tribute streams for confirmation, but my computer said that the sites could not be reached. I wonder just what is being achieved.

But even Garry has twigged that David LW and All Change are one and the same nut job and has barred him. This is the man of course with the Tesla aerial that could be hidden up his bum and the man who said that my pastime should be named Radio Ross Revenge. Further, who can forget his assertion that he was once in the Battlefield Division of British Forces Broadcasting Service. This operation is of course a Charity that has no military function. So his suggestions that he and fellow Officers held meetings and made decisions ' but always with the utmost respect ' and that he remembers bumping across Orfordness in a Bedford Three Ton Army Lorry are complete fabrications.

Question is whether he knows he is lying or has convinced himself that these things are true.

I recall Radio Caroline social events ( that I no longer attend ) where someone may come up to me, punch me playfully on the shoulder while saying ' hello mate, you and I go back some years eh ? ' where I was too polite to say ' I have not the first idea who you are '.
