The Melody Maker post from CCS was very interesting, although the author(s) was/were clearly devoid of the slightest vestige of technical knowledge. In 1965 Caroline South (not sure about North) would have been on 199m so sky wave could have been more prevalent than Radio London on 266.

It was always amusing to me that most people thought that Luxembourg 'drifted off frequency' rather than the signal just fading in and out! As noted in this piece, the 208 signal was much better at night in the far west and North of the UK where there was little on no ground wave to cause the famous phase cancellation - fading in and out, effect.
