Just like Another anorak I was amused at the idea of stations drifting off frequency; I don’t think so! Fading certainly, but it could also have been the radio drifting. In my collection I have a Vidor CN420 Regatta - https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/vidor_regatta_cn420cn_42.html - which is exactly the same age as me, and it certainly drifts a bit at the HF end of the band. The tuning at HF is also very sensitive and the set could really have done with bandspread. At least I don’t drift. Yet!

The Melody Maker post from CCS was very interesting, although the author(s) was/were clearly devoid of the slightest vestige of technical knowledge. In 1965 Caroline South (not sure about North) would have been on 199m so sky wave could have been more prevalent than Radio London on 266.
