Boom play far too much of that crooning and soppy MOR stuff, often by relics of the 1950s. Their programming is same old content and far too pedestrian. Real Mogadon radio!
I really wish stations would drop this "year' infatuation and focus on the quality of the music & production rather than its year, or chart position achieved.
I dont listen to "all 60s" stations or any 'select by release date' stations. Im more interested in the quality o the tunes , and their presentation. The bits between the tracks, the info and other stuff chucked in. Presentation is vital as it should be part of the entertainment and most of all, the company.
There is so much great music, there's really no need for playing mediocre stuff on hot rotation. Thats why Ptere Moore is so faded of hearing the opening chords to Smoke on the Water, an anthem of the 70s or otherwise. But we who immerse ourselves in radio do get jaded at hearing certain tracks. Doesnt mean they are bad, just that we hear them too often perhaps. And thats the rub - stuff gets played far too often, but not for Joe Public perhaps?
But it needs to be FREE of straight-jacket control, daft features we've heard a zillion times, and have some enthusiasm and passion.
