The former Yes keyboardist, composer and world renowned solo artist will officially unveil the RADIO CAROLINE locomotive at a ceremony and then drive it down the track.
The 126-ton Class 31 mainline loco was built in 1959 and is painted in original British Rail colours. It worked out of London Liverpool Street Station and may well have hauled the trains that took the likes of Johnnie Walker and Tony Blackburn to Harwich in the 60s.
Two special RADIO CAROLINE nameplates have been cast as well as two Caroline bell plates and they will be fixed to the loco prior to its unveiling.
The diesel train is part of a massive collection of locomotives and rolling stock, plus exhibits, train rides and a huge array of railway memorabilia at Mangapps.
Come along to Mangapps Railway Museum, Southminster Rd, Burnham-on-Crouch CM0 8QG on Sunday 1 October at 12 noon. Admission to the museum including train rides and access to all the exhibits is £13 - anyone wearing a Caroline tee gets in for £8.
Caroline presenters Ray Clark, Graham Bannerman and Josh Holmes-Bright will be there with Rick so why not come and say hello.
