I expect the Dark side & NG will say "PM's having another moan about the hero we all worship: Ronan" (or words to that effect)
I see someone has told Neil on there to back up his moans with evidence regarding yourself.
The silence is deafening.....
Glad the railway day was a success - I would have liked to have gone myself. Perhaps that engine will pull the first train "When" HS2 is opened..
Hello all,
In truth I had forgotten that Oct 1st 1989 was significant but yes, that was the day that Caroline returned to air after the August raid.
At once along comes Neal, stating that I did not want the station to return and posing the open ended question of why I did not want that. Actually, he knows the reason but his implacable but impotent hatred is becoming delusional.
For those that do not know, after the raid we had for a while quite a bit of money, a large amount of non perishable food and a good amount of records to replace that which the Dutch had taken.
Also I reasoned that as the raiders had removed all the goods that enabled the ship to broadcast and as that action had been widely publicised and photographed, Ross Revenge was just an anchored ship.
I wanted to use that status to deliver as much fuel/water etc as we could while the opportunity existed. Then any such blockade as happened when the ship returned to air could be more easily survived.
I put this to Ronan who enthusiastically agreed that this was the right thing to do. But I don't doubt ( as this was what he always did ) that he told Peter Chicago to put something on 558 as soon as possible to protect ' his ' frequency.
Thus he left Chicago and myself on a collision course as when Mick dundee went out to explain my plan, Chicago told hom to feck off.
The club vessel Galexy was full of diesel for the ship, but as soon as captain Alex Pluck heard the signal on 558 he refused to deliver it, also the food, also the records.
On Oct 1st 2023 we had a hugely successful day at Mangapps Rail Museum where our new locomotive was named ' Radio Caroline ' and where Rick Wakeman gave our supporters train rides behind it. The car park was so full of Caroline enthusiasts cars that we had to make another field available for parking.
While everyone was having grand time, no doubt Neal was crouched alone in Gateshead sticking pins in a wax model of me.
PM.
