I don't get that feeling, all 3 of the options OFCOM have put forward indicate at least a 5 year extension to current licences which start to expire in 2025, with many not expiring until later. So even if they chose the option of re advertising the current licences on expiration, current legislation, which they aren't proposing changing, allows for a renewal after 5 years for 5 years.

You certainly get the feeling that OFCOM think that analogue radio will be finished in six years time so a station applying for more power on the least popular band of all is not going to get much attention.
