Winter 1974 and the Mi Amigo had just returned to off the English coast. One of my favourite times listening to Caroline doing my homework. Dave Owen was on board and I always remember him playing this song more than once. Produced by “my friend George” with Ringo on drums and a great Spector-esque sound. Great on medium wave.
Post on a Facebook offshore radio group has pointed out the similarity of Man in Action to the chorus of High in the Sky released two years earlier. Hadn't noticed this before.
My Friend Jack by the Smoke got banned by the BBC. Band members were from Scarborough and York, my local station Radio 270 played it as did Caroline. EMI refused to release it with the original lyrics, still got banned when they changed them. Here's the "oh what beautiful things he sees" original
