Radio 4's World at One today as it's last report interviewed Sir Roger Gale MP. Now on BBC Sounds, 39 minutes, 6 minute interview.
Starts with Johnnie Diamond saying Caroline is 60 years old today and celebrating with a special 3 day broadcast this Easter. Roger talks about his time on Caroline North, not when he moved to Radio Scotland and later Radio 270, includes audio of Caroline.

Tony on top form - on Sounds the programme cuts off just before the end .
Wonder if the guys will get out to the Ross Revenge with this gale blowing ?
Hope so .

Tony Blackburn took over the Zoe Ball breakfast show on Radio 2 this morning, played Caroline by The Fortunes and said he'd locked all the doors. Said he'd been planning with Johnnie Walker but he'd overslept, announced as Pirate Radio 2.
Only just heard about it on Twitter, now on BBC Sounds 49 minutes, listening to it now.

Just posted on Facebook:
Original Radio Caroline DJ and newsreader Nick Bailey will be heading out to the Ross Revenge this Good Friday, to share some of his memories with north-sea veteran Chris Pearson on Radio Caroline North.
Nick spent his time in the sixties aboard the MV Fredericia (later renamed the ‘Caroline’), off the coast of Ramsey on the Isle of Man. He later went on to a career with BFBS Forces Radio and Classic FM.
Nick says, “I can’t wait to get back, it’s been nearly sixty years!” He started his time with Caroline on the MV Mi Amigo, before heading north.
Nick will join Chris live on-air from 1pm Friday.

That’s a good question and I’m not sure what I was expecting. Obviously I was aware that Walker and Blackburn weren’t coming but I had hoped for some surprises, I think also I was expecting special programs on the main channel and Flashback, the 60th celebration isn’t even mentioned on the Flashback site.
In what sense "Underwhelming" Condor?
Were you expecting Walker or Blackburn to do programmes?
What would you suggest any different?
Cheers.
Details are now on the website but I must admit they seem a little underwhelming, and also seem restricted to just Caroline North, unless I’m missing something!
The most important thing for me, is that Caroline still exists after 60 years - the dedicated people running it, do it for their love of it - not for money.
Some people have written books about their time with offshore radio - they probably see this as an opportunity to sell some more copies of their books
Quite ironic that there are loads of mentions for Boom Radio and the BBC, but nothing about what Caroline are doing. Says a lot!
Radio London website now has a webpage on events/broadcasts over Easter celebrating the 60th anniversary of Radio Caroline's first broadcast.
