Radio Caroline and other offshore radio stations have been suppporting musicians, many of whom were not getting their music played much if at all on licenced stations, ever since they came on air. Sales supported them financially, some agreed to pay copyright fees, the current landbased station does so as did the landbased commercial stations giving greater choice to everyone following offshore stations challenging the state monopoly or where few other stations were able to get licences.

Even some reasonably successful musicians need full or part time work as well. Streaming fees they get are pitiful, UK musicians now have problems with European gigs after Brexit, live venues are having to close down due to increased costs.

Just searched about this company:
