On the question of revising technical standards for AM broadcasting I'd propose something a bit more radical namely a complete revision of the Geneva 1975 plan on the following grounds:

* The original plan was only intended to remain in force until 1989

* A lot of the countries allocated frequencies in the original plan don't exist anymore.

* Quite a few allocations in the original plan were never used.

* Many countries have completely lost interest in AM broadcasting.
