It certainly is a fascinating read - though why PM referred to Ronan, as "El Supremo" puzzles me.
I assume Ronan did not want to be named (& Blamed perhaps?)
I still find it unbelievable, that someone that crazy was able to create & obtain the money to do so, The Ross equipped as the most powerful MW offshore station for many years - & post MOA as well.
Yes I realise RNI was a close second, but she was equipped before Europe had it's own MOA type laws.
Just as an FYI, it did come
Interesting postcript
Let me say Peter I would love to see an updated version. But published after your death? Many of us may never get around to reading it for the same reason.
Best to do it like Bob Lawrence and write a fictional account with characters that can be guessed. At least it might have a fighting chance of some of us seeing it published why some of us are still here.
To be fair I'm sure there's plenty of work to be done in the present to keep the entertainment going and to restore that ship.
I did have a copy of the original book and loaned it to a friend. When I asked for it back I received a lot of copies of Offshore Echos but not my copy of butterfly. It was difficult to ask for it back after his passing, however I'd have him back over the book.
Interestingly enough I think I have tracked down a copy from t'internet, with the full understanding I'm probably going to be ripped off but the expense of £20 I thought it was a good gamble.
I think even if negotiations to republish the original can be done it would make a few bob, although I don't know what can of worms that will open. As for the work it was written at the time and the Rawness of writing down while fresh in your mind I find is always better than recollections of happenings 40 years ago. It then gets written with Rose Tinted glasses and less emotion..
Nothing to lose ?
Well I guess so only that I will then be dead.
Does not really fill me with joy !
PM.
If it's what you believe to be true then write it and lodge it with a solicitor to be published on your death. You'll have your version of the true history of Radio Caroline in the public domain and we can all then draw our on conclusions on whether to believe it or not and no one can sue you, what's too lose?
