"On 15th August 1987 the Caroline Movement held an event called Driftback 20 to commemorate 20 years since the Marine Offences Act (MOA) came into being. Johnnie who presented on Radio Caroline from 1966, following stints on Swinging Radio England and Britain Radio, was a guest of honour and is interviewed here by The Caroline Movement's John Burch. Remastered from an original recording I made at the event. He talks about his time on Radio Caroline and SRE including that momentous broadcast as the MOA was enacted, and how he felt when he eventually knew it was all over. He discusses his later career, including difficult times in the USA when he left KSAN, and returning to the UK and ending up signing on. He covers how he ended up at Radio West in Bristol and then GWR and his return to Radio 1 in the late 1980s as well as the influence on Laser on ILR."
