I'm sure on Bob Lawrence's show on spirit of the seventies the almost 6 months break was not deliberate, but once it did go, the politics took over and the length of the break was longer due to certain decisions being made that were more personal interests than the good of the Radio Caroline station.
That's my take, but only those around at the time will know. And of course some of them are not around now.
Therefore the historical facts would be pure speculation.
