On the basis of ' one link, one message ', the production comoany wanted to focus on that Michael had ' discovered ' Caroline still broadcasting from a ship. This is why we all went out there and actually did broadcast that day, with Johnny, Nigel and I as the old brigade and Ellie and Laura as the new recruits.
We did talk other than on camera about the requirements of the ship but they weren't much interested so I did not push it.
Caroline has no influence whatsoever over what happens during editing, so you just hope for the best. I think it was a good outcome, probably the best we could have hoped for. A little storm in a tea cup has happened on the other forum over a harmless remark here that Ellie is more photogenic than Nigel,Johnny and myself. Somwe grumpy old sod has challenged that this is a sexist remark.
Maybe I should compliment him in standing up for her in this way...... Mind you, he will never have seen her wearing shorts, comment on which would have been sexist.

Nice bit of publicity Oxygen. Michael Portillo referred to A.M. DAB and internet modes. Ellie's T shirt had 648 khz visible as did the closing shot of the Ross. Is this a first for the BBC in that they actually publicised the broadcast frequency. People may be disappointed if they tune to 199M though and my bet is that not many people know what that means or how to get there anyway. Hopefully 648khz would ring a bell (no pun intended) Only thing lacking was anything along the lines of the dry dock appeal. Missed trick or edited out Peter ? Previous Message
Hello,
We waited with anticipation as we always do for Caroline/Revenge to be on the TV. And then it is and then just as soon, it is over.
I should mention that Nigel Harris and Johnny Lewis and Laura Pursey from our FM spin off station also gave up their time, but sadly did not make it to the final edit.
They wanted a silly old bugger namely me and a bright young thing namely Ellie Boyce who nailed it in my view. Sadly the sequence of Portillo and Ellie dancing together also did not make the final edit.
But it was a sympathetic piece that will turn up forever more on random TV channels to our benefit.
We did get a good reaction from people who said that the TV made them realise that Caroline was still operating and that it was like rediscovering an old friend.
We certainly are the only radio station that always attracts media attention.
