, started Caroline short wave - twixt 1980 & 83.
There were several reasons, but one stat stands out is this: On one of the boat trips we made to the Mi Amigo in the late 1970s, was meeting up on one of these trips with a blind young lady by the name of Val Stark. The sea was too choppy to go aboard, but the sight of how much just touching briefly, this Barnacle coated old ship - meant to Val, stayed with me long after that trip - & was one of the factors why Caroline should not be written-off & forgotten following the demise of the Mi Amigo. Val had Friend called Peter Anderson at the time, I recently met him on facebook - & I was reminded that it was time to re-master etc, a Personal top 30 Val had played for her in 1978 on a rough night at sea. The recording quality is variable, partly due to the age of the cassettes & also reception conditions later in the evening.
But here it is.

Sadly, Val passed away when she was quite young - perhaps the blindness became too much for her?
Peter is also currently having health problems - so I wish him well.
Getting older is not always much fun, but as my good friend Sheila would say: "It's better than the alternative" (Not getting older)
