"It is a lovely idea but sadly not possible. If you imagine a car that has run out of MOT you have to have permission to drive it to a garage or it could never be fixed. It must be still insured of course.
As for a ship or big ship, the Marine & Coastguard Agency send an inspector who may or may not be an expert and they specify things that must be done before the ship can be moved. THey may be the same things or extra things that our own surveyor has had us do. After that the MCA issue what is called a Loadline Exemption. They charge £1200 to do this.
Then our insurers will cover the voyage and a chosen tug skipper will agree to tow Revenge.
But this is a dead tow i.e. ship closed and locked and nobody at all on board. However, we may seek a concession for two persons to be on board to check the ship internally under tow and to be able to lower the anchors and run pumps if needed.
No chance of a broadcast I'm afraid so I can't say ' we are a a long way away from Holland now and soon we reach our destination on the Isle of Man '.
PM.
Oh, the MCA want another £1200 to check the boat after repair."
Also peter says there is a possibility for videoing and live streaming when the ross leaves the blackwater..
