We remember Ronan O’Rahilly who passed away on this day in 2020 aged 79 - the visionary who made Radio Caroline possible.

Back in 1964, when the airwaves felt closed and controlled, Ronan believed listeners deserved more choice, more music and more freedom. Against the odds he helped launch a station that would become a movement - broadcasting from the sea and into the hearts of millions.

Radio Caroline wasn’t just a radio station. It was a challenge to the establishment, a champion of new music and a voice for those who wanted something different. Sixty-two years later this spirit lives on because of Ronan’s determination, courage, and refusal to accept “no” for an answer.

We owe so much to his vision.
