I don’t understand much “Chickenese” but I thought I heard a hen saying “Rat rat rat” over the chicken yard audio.

So I went outside to investigate. Lo-and-behold there was a dying rat just outside the fence. Looks like this rat didn’t like my baking soda-cornmeal muffin preparation.

So I moved this dying rat over to the crow yard. The crows were pulling on her tail, but apparently she didn’t want to play.

This female rat was quite fat. It looks like she may be pregnant, but her nipples were not exposed.

She looks so peaceful, and at the time of the photo she was still (barely) breathing. We’ll just let nature take its course.
