Izzy is kind of like "our rooster".

She's a bit smaller than the other hens. She's a great layer, almost every day.

She's a bit fat, for her size.

Her eggs are about 55 grams, the high side of medium.

I raised her from a little 2 week old chick.

She will fly up and perch on my arm to get treats.

She growls at me if I open the nest box when she's in it.

Fresh Cackleberries! Mmmmmm....

City codes do not permit roosters.

So I was very relieved to see Squeezie was going to be a pullet. Otherwise she would have become a meat bird.

But even when the hens get old and stop laying I probably won't eat them. These birds are pets.

What’s the issue? Noise?
