So I put Squeezie to work watching the flock on the monitor.



On the roost, left to right is Frazzle (rear end), Basil, and Blackie (the alpha female) Red and Mildred are out of the picture.

(Yes, that's a 43" HD computer monitor.)

It was at dusk, a raccoon was just outside the chicken run. They don't usually come out that early.

The girls were outside the coop screaming their heads off, apparently afraid to go in the coop.

With the radio on, I couldn't hear them in the house.

Squeezie had the presence of mind (apparently) to go into the coop. She got right under the CCTV camera and screamed her head off. With the open mike, I definitely heard that in the house. I came running and chased the raccoon off.

Squeezie used to make a racket in the coop after she laid and egg, some hens do this. I would come out to collect the egg. Maybe she actually knew she could call me, hard to tell.
