There were several nukes in the pipeline, plus mass production of nukes would shortly begin at Oak Ridge. USA could have eventually hit Japan with a nuke per day. No country on Earth could survive such a bombardment. Plus, Teller was pulling for inclusion of lithium-6 deuteride in the center of each fission core, increasing yield to circa 500KT.
